Escape or Retreat?

Many of us dream of escaping and hiding out on a retreat, but what we are looking for is timeout from our everyday life and for some of us, a way to take stock and look for a different way of life.

Whilst it is a phrase uttered by many, actioning and making the commitment to go on a retreat Spiritual or otherwise can be difficult as it signifies that you are not content with your life as you are leading it.

It’s about taking time out to reevaluate what you want and where you want to be. There is a lot of soul-searching to be had; you confront your shadow side and the things you have procrastinated. Facing your fears and what you have been avoiding is painful, but is brave and is liberating eventually. The burden is lifted and unblocks the negativity that may hold you back in facing the future.

For some, a retreat is an escape because they are not ready to change their lives, but can see that there are options and a different way is possible and that there is hope. Those who are brave enough or ready to embrace change, alter their life course, values and way of thinking. For most of us, crossroads appear and we have to make a choice.

There are never any wrong choices, (sometimes there are better ones,) but they all lead to the same destination. We just choose the path and when we want to step onto it.
